Dieback Disease

The dieback sickness was first noted in Telangana in 2019, but it was originally recorded in the nation in the 1990s near Dehradun in Uttarakhand.

The fungus Phomopsis azadirachtae is primarily responsible for the dieback illness.
All neem tree ages are affected by the dieback disease, which results in an almost complete loss of fruit yield in badly affected plants.

Dieback is a fungus, but neem trees occasionally experience insect infestations, and the combination of the two worsens the disease’s effects.

Twig blight and dieback disease has been identified as the illness threatening neem trees in Telangana, and it has made a significant comeback in the state this year.

The onset of the rainy season marks the beginning of the symptoms, which gradually worsen as the season progresses into early winter.
